View the CSS for this page. Because of the way that this technique works (it is similar to Sliding Doors of CSS), and due to limitations in IE's alpha image filter, you cannot apply the alpha image filter in IE6 correctly, therefore it cannot be used for skins that require alpha transparency and also need to work in IE6.
